CAPS Program.

The Community Ambassador Partnership for Success (CAPS) Program is designed to increase the capacity and infrastructure of Coweta County, GA. To prevent the onset and reduce the progression of substance abuse and its related problems among youth and young adults (9–20-year-olds) over a five-year period.

  • Community coalition meetings every quarter

  • Train 150 youth (30 annually) as Community Ambassador Leaders to disseminate substance abuse prevention messages

  • CAPS staff with the cooperation of the Ambassadors will conduct 20 (4 annually) alcohol drug free activities to provide healthy alternatives to alcohol, marijuana, and opioid avoidance

Our Objectives

  • At the conclusion of year three:

    • More than 1,100 students will have received classes in substance abuse prevention

    • There will be over 120 Student Ambassadors

    • Twelve events providing healthy alternatives to alcohol, marijuana, and opioid use will have taken place

  • During the third year, 23,089 adolescents, young adults, and adults were reached with substance abuse prevention messages, parent education, and community resources via social media.

  • During the third year, a billboard at a busy intersection in Coweta County with advertisements for opioids, marijuana, and alcohol was viewed by over 168,000 individuals over the course of three months.
